In Turbo Inventory, by default, the unit cost and cost totals are displayed on documents such as invoices, quotes, sales orders, and sales invoices. However, you may want to hide these cost details to ensure sensitive information is only visible to authorized users. There are two ways to achieve this:
Method 1: Hide Unit Cost from Document Screens (No Permissions Needed)
If you want to remove the unit cost from all document screens without using permissions, follow these steps:
Navigate to Settings:
Go to Settings > Tools.
Adjust the Advanced Configuration:
Scroll down to Advanced Configuration and click on it.
Under the Invoice section, scroll down to find Hide Unit Cost.
Set Hide Unit Cost to Yes.
Save and View the Changes:
After saving your settings, go to a document like a Quote.
Create a new quote and add a product.
You’ll notice that the Cost column has been completely removed from the document screen.
This method will remove the unit cost from all documents but still allows users with appropriate permissions to view the cost information in other parts of the system (e.g., product or stock views).
Method 2: Use Permissions to Control Unit Cost Visibility for Specific Users
If you want to keep the unit cost visible for certain users (such as admin staff or power users) but hide it for regular users, follow these steps:
Navigate to Staff Settings:
Go to Staff Settings in the system.
Click on the user role you wish to modify (e.g., Admin).
Adjust Permissions:
In the Permissions section, find and remove the Invoice Cost permission.
By removing this permission, the user will no longer be able to see cost or margin on any document or screen in the system, ensuring that only authorized users can view this information.
Save the Settings:
Save your changes, and the selected users will no longer see the unit cost or margin in their documents or on any screens.
Conclusion
There are two methods to hide unit cost in Turbo Inventory: removing the cost from document screens entirely or controlling access via user permissions. You can choose the method that best fits your business needs, whether you want to completely hide cost information or selectively limit access based on user roles.
