Before you run your first project, a few settings decide how the module behaves. Go to Apps → Projects → Manage.
Turning it on
Enable the Project Module switches Projects on.
Naming and numbering
- Use User Defined Project Names — name projects yourself instead of using the automatic number.
- Last Number — controls the next project number.
The two settings that do the most work
| Setting | What it does |
|---|---|
| Always create RFQ when importing Project Material | When you import a materials list onto a project, Turbo automatically raises Requests for Quote (RFQs) for it. You import the bill of materials. |
| When booking in a Goods Receipt linked to a Project, book the stock directly in as Material | Goods received against a project go straight onto that project as material, rather than into general stock to be transferred later. |
Together these are what connect a project to your purchasing without anyone re-keying anything. See Project purchasing: RFQs, orders and goods in.
Your own statuses
Under Statuses, add your own project statuses with a Name and a Display Order. These sit alongside the built-in ones so the project list reflects how your business actually describes a job's progress.
Job Types and FE Codes
Two further tabs let you maintain Job Types (categorising projects) and FE Codes.
FE Codes are Free Entry codes. A project line doesn't have to be a stocked product — Free Entry lets you add the one-off bought-in part, the subcontractor's day, or a cost with no product record, and the FE Codes tab maintains the codes you use for them. Without free entry those costs could end up off-system in a spreadsheet, which is where job costing could go wrong.
Clocking
Automatically clock everyone off after this hour (Evening) — set a time in 24-hour format and Turbo clocks everyone off then. Leave at 0 to disable. This stops a forgotten clock-on running all night.
Trade-specific
Galvanising Cost (Per Tonne) holds a galvanising rate for costing — for fabricators who send work out to be galvanised.
Performance
Preload Product Search when in the Project Edit Screen — you can turn this off if you find the project edit screen slow.
