Most suppliers price in bands — for example: one rate for a few, a better rate for a pallet, better again for a full load. If those bands only live in your buyer's head, you could end up buying at the wrong price whenever they are on holiday.
Quantity breaks record each supplier's price bands against the product, so Turbo knows the real cost at the quantity you're actually ordering.
Setting one up
- Go to Suppliers → List and click Quantity Breaks.
- Choose the Product.
- Click Add Quantity Break.
- Record the Supplier, the QB Unit Price at that band, and the Min Quantity and Max Quantity the band applies to.
Because bands have both a minimum and a maximum, you can record a full price ladder for one product from one supplier — and different ladders for different suppliers on the same product.
What you get
- The buyer sees the real price at the quantity being ordered, not a single list price.
- Comparing two suppliers means comparing them at the quantity you're buying, which is often a different answer from comparing list prices.
- The list shows Created By, so you know who recorded a price and when to question it.
