Overview

This guide explains the email options available in Turbo Inventory, including:

  • Using Turbo’s default email service

  • Configuring your own email relay (SMTP)

  • Setting reply-to addresses by document type

  • Optional email tracking

  • Testing email delivery

Correct email setup ensures reliable document delivery and clear communication with customers and suppliers.

Accessing Email Settings

  1. Go to Apps.

  2. Locate Email.

  3. Click Manage.

This opens the email configuration screen.

Option 1 — Default Turbo Email Service (Recommended)

By default, Turbo sends emails using:

noreply@turboinventory.com

How this works

  • Turbo manages the mailbox and delivery

  • Ensures emails are sent reliably

  • Prevents local mail server configuration issues

What customers see

  • Emails display your company name as the sender

  • If the recipient clicks Reply, the response goes to your configured reply email, not the noreply address

This is a standard approach used by most cloud-based SaaS platforms.

Reply-To Email Addresses

You can configure different reply-to email addresses depending on the document type.

Example

  • Purchase Orders → replies go to purchasing@yourcompany.com

  • Sales Invoices → replies go to accounts@yourcompany.com

This ensures replies are routed to the correct team automatically.

Option 2 — Use Your Own Email Relay (SMTP)

If you prefer to send emails using your own email address:

  1. Tick Send emails using my email address.

  2. Enter your email relay (SMTP) details:

    • Email address

    • Password

    • SMTP server

    • Port

    • SSL / TLS settings

Important limitations

  • Turbo can only integrate using the SMTP options shown

  • If your email provider does not support these settings, integration is not possible

  • If your email relay rejects emails, investigation is required on your side

Option 3 — Email Tracking (Optional)

Turbo offers email tracking as an optional feature.

What email tracking provides

  • Confirmation that an email reached the inbox

  • Notification when the email is opened

  • Tracking when links are clicked

Important notes

  • Email tracking uses a third-party service

  • Tracked emails may notify recipients that tracking is enabled

  • Some email providers alert users when emails are tracked

To enable email tracking, contact Turbo support.

Testing Email Configuration

After configuring your email settings:

  1. Use Send Test Email.

  2. Send a test email to yourself.

  3. Confirm:

    • Delivery

    • Sender name

    • Reply-to behaviour

Testing ensures everything is working before sending live documents.

Best Practices

  • Use the default Turbo email service unless you have a strong reason not to

  • Set clear reply-to addresses for different document types

  • Test email delivery during onboarding

  • Enable email tracking only if you need visibility into email engagement

Common Issues

  • Emails not arriving → check spam/junk folders

  • SMTP errors → verify credentials and port/SSL settings

  • Replies going to the wrong inbox → review reply-to configuration

Summary

Turbo provides flexible email options:

  • Default managed email (most reliable)

  • Custom SMTP relay (advanced users)

  • Optional email tracking

Once configured, emails can be tested and used confidently for invoices, quotes, purchase orders, and more.
