Renaming what things are called in Turbo

Created by Turbo Support, Modified on Fri, 9 Oct at 11:39 AM by David Costello

Turbo's default words won't suit every trade. If you hire marquees, "Vehicle" is wrong. If your customers are clients, "Hiree" is wrong. You can change them.

Where

Go to Settings & tools → System Templates → Language.

What you'll see

A searchable list of every changeable string, each with a Name (the internal reference) and a Value (what people actually see). Use Edit to change a value, or Add string to add one.

What you can rename

Menu items, list names, field labels, buttons and statuses. Common examples:

DefaultRenamed to, by businesses that…
Vehicles / Vehicle ListEquipment, Machines, Assets, Furniture — anyone whose items aren't vehicles
HireeClient, Customer
RegAsset Tag, Serial
Hire NoteHire Contract
Level, Location, ProjectWhatever your business calls them

Naming your own fields

Batches carry seven user-defined text fields and seven user-defined numbers; purchase orders carry five. Rename them here and they appear with your names throughout.

A word of advice

Change the words your staff use every day and leave the rest. Renaming something to a word nobody uses makes support calls harder, and any article in this knowledge base will still use the default name.
